Thank you for engaging with H&B Defence (“H&B”, “we”, “our” or “us”) social media channels, and for taking your time to read our social media guidelines. H&B Defence uses the following social media platforms:

Social media platforms provide a place to discuss and share H&B Defence related matters, our organisation, our initiatives, and our people. By using our social media platforms, you also agree to comply with the terms and conditions of the relevant platform.

We try to respond to all H&B Defence related queries received via our social media platforms as soon as possible (within 2 business days) during Monday to Friday, however this may be longer during busy periods. We are on-hand Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 4:30pm ACST, so if you’re contacting us via social media outside of these times, or during public holidays, you may be waiting a little longer for a response – and we appreciate your patience.

There are some things we’re unable to action through our social media platforms. If you contact us about something we cannot action over social media, we will ask you to get in touch via email.

House Rules

We welcome all questions and commentary, including constructive feedback. We also welcome people of all backgrounds, languages, cultures, ages, and circumstances on our social media platforms

However,  we do not tolerate divisive, inappropriate, or rude comments directed at H&B Defence, our employees, our parent companies (Babcock and HII), or members of our online communities. Specifically, we cannot tolerate posts and/or comments that are:

  • defamatory
  • abusive or offensive
  • hateful, discriminatory or violent language or images, including those regarding race, ethnicity, religion, gender, disability, sexual orientation or political beliefs
  • unlawful
  • trolling or deliberate disruption of discussion
  • links, comments or images containing sexually explicit content material
  • violations or infringements of any intellectual property rights
  • spam
  • solicitation
  • fraudulent
  • spreading inaccurate or misleading information
  • uploads or attached files that contain viruses, corrupted files or any other similar software or programs that may damage the operation of a computer or communications device.
  • repetitive or continuous posts, including complaints that have already been responded to by us
  • link baiting (embedding a link in your post to draw traffic to another site)
  • unreasonable or inappropriate disclosure of someone else’s personal information including public posts or comments that name H&B Defence employees or include any of their personal details.

Breach of Guidelines

We don’t take decisions on moderating posts lightly. We expect that participants post commentary that is both relevant and respectful.

We reserve the right to hide or delete commentary or posts that do not comply with these guidelines. We also reserve the right to remove or block any individual or user at our discretion who violates or fails to comply with these guidelines. With this in mind, we ask that you stick to the following guidelines:

  • Be polite to our employees and other users on the platform.
  • Don’t give out any personal information.
  • Don’t use inappropriate or offensive language including usernames, photographs and any messages that are crude, contain swearing, are racist, offensive, or violent, reference illegal activities or contain comments for personal financial gain.
  • No advertising, spam, selling and links to external shopping sites. This includes posts used to direct traffic to other sites, blogs, or social media pages.
  • Do not post links to sites that require registration to view, or any site that prompts an automatic download.
  • Keep comments on-topic.
  • Do not tag H&B Defence in inappropriate content. We reserve the right to de-tag H&B Defence from any posts or photos we deem inappropriate.
  • Do not copy and paste the same comments across multiple posts. We’ll see it the first time and respond accordingly, where appropriate.

We reserve the right to determine, at our discretion, whether contributions to our social media channels breach our guidelines.

User Generated Content

While we welcome contributions from everyone, please note posts by users on H&B Defence’s social media platforms do not necessarily reflect the opinions of H&B Defence, nor does H&B Defence confirm their accuracy.

In addition to the rights that you grant to social media platforms, you also grant to H&B Defence and its affiliates the right to use and/or distribute all posted content in any manner or media without any legal or monetary obligation to the author.

Protect your privacy

Do not post any personal information on our social media channels. Any posts that include an email address, phone number, address or other personal information will be removed. We are subject to the Privacy Act 1988 which requires that we comply with the Australian Privacy Principles set out in that Act.

Disclaimer

While every effort is made to ensure that the content posted by us on our online and social media channels is current and accurate, we accept no liability for the accuracy, completeness or currency of that information. Content of linked external sites are beyond our control. Any reliance placed upon the content on our online and social media channels as well as the content of linked external sites is strictly at the user’s own risk.
